Decorative magnets by Elizabeth Munro I bought a magnetic whiteboard over a month ago and it has been sitting on the floor not used. I thought to myself it would look much better jazzed up with my current obsession— the colour pink and flowers!! I bought some magnets and pre-made magnets clips and set about altering them to perk up my whiteboard. |

We have a special pre-order to put on the site this week. One of our Design Team members, Maxine Hazebroek will launch her new book at the Inspiration Scrapbook Convention in Sydney next month. We have available an offer to purchase pre-ordered copies. These copies will be personally signed by Maxine. As a special gift for BB’ers, Maxine is making bookmarks for 5 random pre-orders. Max has such an amazing style and a personality to match and I just know you will find this book and Maxine’s work an inspiration. Max has provided us with a sneak peek of a few of the layouts and projects in the book. Pre-orders are available on the site now!. Until next week, keep creative! Luise |

Designing With Calendar Challenge: The new challenges for October are now on the message board. Remember you do not have to own a Designing With Calendar to participate in the challenges as we have set alternative challenges for anyone to complete. The October Alternatives are: 1. Document the things you are thankful for. 2. Make a title by highlighting or framing a word/s in a sheet of patterned paper. 3. Use stitching on a layout—by hand or machine, straight or messy. 4. Frame a photo on your layout with a variety of colourful cardstock strips. To read more on the challenge, visit the Message Board under CHALLENGES/COMPETITIONS. Closing date is 31 October. |
|
Monthly Challenge: The OCTOBER CHALLENGE is to scrap BODY PARTS. Sounds a little weird but Max set this challenge as a way of scrapping individuality. To capture those body parts that are unique to each person, be it eyes, eyelashes, two people holding hands, the hands, the feet, ears, teeth, hair, belly button....it can be any body part. To read more on the challenge, visit the Message Board under CHALLENGES. Closing date 31 October. |

Don’t forget challenges close this Monday coming. |

The large round magnet below is actually a mini CD. I glued SEI velvet paper and trimming to the mini CD, then attached a flower, some ribbon and a L'il Davis flower charm (with a rubon E in the middle with Pritt Gel on top to seal). A great way to use up scraps and my whiteboard is no longer looking sad! |
|
The pre-made magnets were very easily transformed. The motif came off with a craft knife and I simply stuck a yellow Heidi Swapp daisy on to the magnet. I put one of the new large Bazzill brads through through the centre of the flower and then decorated the brad with Basic Grey Spring rubons. I finally put a light layer of Dimensional Magic to seal and give it a shine. On another pre-made magnet one I used one of the new Urban Lily Urban Additions flowers and also coated it with Dimensional Magic. |
