This month our CELEBRATED SCRAPPER is Melanie Casey. Mel joined BB in October 2005.

We asked Mel a few questions which you can read below:

When and how did you find BB?
Around 18 months ago. I had only moved to Australia 12 months before and I was searching for good online stores.

What part of Scrapbooking do you love the most?
I love the idea of recording stories and events for the future, so that the girls can read back through some of what we did while they were young. My hope is that the girls will look back through their scrapbooks and it will trigger memories of their childhood. But I do LOVE scrapbook supplies!

Share your favourite layout. Why is it your favourite layout?
I have a lot of favourites, but I do really like the Sisterly Love layout (to the right). I loved using the black and white Doodlebug papers and the glitter cardstock. And I love that photo of the girls together.

What is your favourite Scrapbooking book?
I don’t have one favourite. I get a lot of inspiration from lots of different books. I really enjoyed both of Cathy Zielske’s books and I am looking forward to seeing Nic Howards new book.

How do you organise your albums?
I started using Creative Memories albums which I love. I enjoy doing a mix of 12x12 and 8.5x11 layouts and so I have started using American Crafts ring bound albums and put all different sizes in. I do a mix of layout sizes and I don’t scrap chronologically.

What is your biggest challenge in Scrapbooking?
My biggest challenge is journaling. I hated English at school and now I am no different. I know what I want to say but just not very good with the words.

How often do you scrapbook?
I try to scrapbook a couple of times a week. But I am really slow at completing a layout so it’s a good week if I can get one layouts completed!

What are your 3 favourite products you are using at the moment?
I love bling, anything shiny and sparkly. I love flowers and my third would have to be ribbon.

What are the last 3 products that you bought?
Making Memories Glitter chipboard, We R Memory Keepers Designer Snaps and a Crop A Dile.

What type of camera do you use?
I have a Canon EOS and a Canon Powershot A620.

If you could have lunch with 5 people who would they be?
My best friend in Canada as I haven’t seen her in 2.5 years and miss her terribly. Then I would want my mu and my closest friends Rochelle and Nikki and lastly my Nannie who passed away many years ago.

This week is the first of the month so we have a full portal tomorrow featuring many of our Design Team members.

We have a fun new challenge for the month of July.

We want to take a virtual tour of your hometown.

Your challenge is to create a postcard that captures the essence of the area where you live.

You can create your postcard either digitally or using traditional scrap supplies. Once you have finished it be sure to upload it to the PHOTOGRAPHY and CHALLENGES section of the gallery by July 31.

Tell us a little about your corner of the world in the comments section – where it is, what the weather’s like – anything. We’d love to hear from you.

We have some prizes up for those who take part in the challenge.

Two random winners will each win a $25 voucher to the BB store.

To the left, Leanne has created her postcard based on her hometown of Warwick and I have created a postcard using a picture of the city lights of Brisbane.

We have both created our postcards digitally but remember you can create something fun using your scrap supplies also!

So…send us a postcard!
