This week I spotted Sam’s rolodex card in the gallery and thought what a great idea. Kind of something along the lines of an ATC. Great idea Sam and thanks for the inspiration!

This week the new CHA products have begun rolling in already. We have new Scenic Route, Chatterbox and American Crafts.

We have also added a selection of products to the store from the Everyday Moments competition sponsors, including cool Michael Miller fabric flowers.

To the right is Sally Mitchell’s latest Everyday Moments layout.  I love the creativity in this layout with Sally using Heidi Swapp diamond foam stamps and diagonal stitching to create a harlequin design.

This month our CELEBRATED SCRAPPER is Fiona Kahler. Fiona joined BB in February 2004.

We asked Fiona a few questions which you can read below:

When and how did you find BB?
There was a ’favourite stores’ thread on Scrapbooking Memories magazine website. Someone mentioned a great new store by the name of Blue Bazaar, and I have been here ever since!

What part of Scrapbooking do you love the most?
I love experimenting—cutting, embossing, backing, printing, painting and getting inky fingers. Oh and the shopping isn’t bad either!

What is your favourite Scrapbooking book?
I love all the techniques in Creative Collage for Scrapbooks by Kelly Angard. I’m also very partial to anything that Autumn Leaves publishes.

How do you organise your albums?
I have several albums for Sharni, and one each for Family, Christmas, Holidays and outings. As I don’t work in chronological order, I have a 3 ring holding album where I put all my work, with a view to sorting later.

How often do you scrapbook?
I try to do something scrap related every night after Sharni has gone to bed, if I can prise myself away from the internet.

What are your 3 favourite products you are using at the moment?
I love paint—I use acrylics on nearly every layout, though I’ve had a real thing for Twinkling H20’s lately. I’m love fabric of all types—fabric paper, inkjet, ribbons etc. Chipboard is wonderfully versatile.

Share your favourite layout. Why is it your favourite layout?
My favourite layout is generally the one I’ve just finished. I had lots of fun with the doodling and Twinkling H20’s in Nutbush and love how it turned out.

What type of camera do you use?
Recently I bought my much-dreamed-about Canon 350D and love it.

If you could have lunch with 5 people who would they be?
My cousin Denise, Jan P (Gran) and Jaimie from BB. Those 3 would keep us all in stitches. Also my parents, just because I love them.

BB Gallery Spotlight—Sam

It’s that time of the month—make sure you log on tomorrow to see layouts from all design team members.

This week we are announcing details on our online class series with Carol Wingert. Carol Wingert is someone I immediately noticed when I started Scrapbooking.  7gypsies was a company I immediately fell in love with and Carol’s association and work for 7gypsies was just what I loved to look at for inspiration.  Carol’s work has featured in a lot of the Designing with Books.  Carol’s work is arty, creative, different and for me, completely intriguing.

I was so happy to see that Carol recently released a book with co-author Tena Sprenger.  Her book goes beyond inspiration and in fact is an essential resource guide to completing many fantastic memory projects. It is truly one of the most inspiring and more importantly informative books I have read.

So I am ecstatic to announce that Carol is doing a series of online workshops for us at BB.  Carol has created the most amazing project for us to complete.  Carol has collated the most amazing products in her kit to make this project a memorable keepsake.  Anyone who has seen Carol’s work before will know she has the ability to co-ordinate unique flea market items that all add perfectly to finish off a project.

Designing With Calendar Challenge:

The new challenges for August are now on the message board. Remember you do not have to own a Designing With Calendar to participate in the challenges as we have set alternative challenges for anyone to complete.

The August Alternatives are:

1. Use an initial or monogram

2. Use a pre-made transparency or layer a plain one over patterned paper or photos. Cut titles and shapes from them also.

3. Press foam stamps into a puddle of paint for a cool effect.

4. Try a ‘fill in the blank’ format for journaling.

To read more on the challenge, visit the Message Board under CHALLENGES/COMPETITIONS.

Closing date is 31 August.
